Artificial Intelligence is transforming personal injury law

Personal injury lawyer Brenda Hollingsworth is using AI to streamline casework, improve communication and enhance the client experience

At Auger Hollingsworth Accident & Injury Lawyers, the team isn’t just keeping up with legal innovation, they’re helping to lead it. Personal Injury Lawyer and the firm’s Co-Founder, Brenda Hollingsworth says, “One of the most exciting shifts in our practice is the thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence, particularly large language models, into our day-to-day work. One of its most powerful applications is generating legal precedents that are not only accurate but also readable to everyone, not just lawyers.”

For clients, documents that can be read at a grade 12 level, mean less legal jargon, more transparency, and a greater sense of control and clarity throughout the legal process.  Hollingsworth says, “That is something that AI is so helpful with and I know a lot of personal injury firms are taking advantage of that to make their communications more accessible to their clients.”

Auger Hollingworth lawyers are using different forms of AI for different reasons. From drafting precedents to sorting emails, the goal is to streamline and make processes more efficient.

Legal documents that speak your language

In a diverse multicultural and multilingual province like Ontario, AI capabilities can help bridge language and communications gaps, which can be important when navigating complex legal matters. Brenda Hollingsworth uses AI to translate documents, ensuring clients receive information in both English and their native language. She says, “We can send documents in both English and an AI version of their native language to ensure the client understands the information. If I need to send a letter in Hindi for example, most of the commonly used AI platforms are very good at translating languages. This has a lot of potential for enhancing communication with clients.” These tools allow clients to better understand their rights and options in personal injury matters and it’s a simple but powerful way to help lawyers to deliver more inclusive and effective client services.

With AI assistance, law firm paralegals can draft documents and demand letters with speed and precision, freeing up seasoned personal injury lawyers to handle more complex legal matters.

AI as medical translator

AI tools that can accurately summarize medical documents are a game-changer for personal injury lawyers. They cut thorough pages of dense reports in seconds, highlighting key details.

For lawyers like Brenda Hollingsworth, it means faster case preparation and clearer insight, especially when a client presents with an injury that she doesn’t see very often. She says, “I can get a lot of very good entry level medical information about this injury in two minutes.  AI can instantly provide foundational medical knowledge, so that I’m informed and prepared to speak confidently with the client.”

Reconstructing collisions

AI is also proving to be a powerful ally in complex car accident cases and collision reconstruction. Hollingsworth can use AI to analyze key data even before she receives reports from the experts. Recently, she was able to simulate a head-on collision before the police determined who was at fault. She says, “My client was unconscious and the other driver was unconscious. There was a lot of mystery around the collision. But I was able to put all of the information I had about the positions of the vehicles and the shape of the roadway to give me AI’s best guess about what happened. And it turned out to be very similar to what my engineer said happened.”

This tech-driven approach can save time, add credibility, and help personal injury lawyers build a stronger case faster.

Elevating the lawyer and client experience

AI is transforming how law firms like Auger Hollingsworth Accident & Injury Lawyers handle cases by automating routine legal tasks, while simultaneously analyzing massive amounts of data. It helps firms run smarter, faster, and more efficiently.

AI tools allow Brenda Hollingsworth to do what she does best and that is to think critically, advocate fiercely, and focus on securing the best outcomes for her clients.
