Ramon.Space has been awarded a key program to develop next-generation digital onboard processors for large-scale communication constellations. Funded by the UK Space Agency, this program promotes collaboration among UK space technology companies to drive innovation in digital payload technologies.

At the heart of this initiative is Ramon.Space’s cutting-edge onboard processor, NuComm, designed for large communication constellations. The NuComm processors, which belong to the NuComm product line, offer high-capacity, low-power, and cost-effective digital communication solutions. These processors can be updated and reconfigured in orbit, boosting efficiency and sustainability for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations, speeding up time-to-market, and extending the lifespan of satellite assets.

“As a dynamic and expanding force in the UK’s space sector, we are honoured to collaborate with the UK Space Agency on this transformative programme,” said Avi Shabtai, CEO of Ramon.Space. “This project represents a quantum leap in AI-based software-defined space technology, laying the foundation for a new era of satellite communications and reinforcing the UK’s leadership in this vital industry.”

NuComm’s onboard communication processor aims to provide unparalleled speed and reliability, offering operators a competitive advantage in the increasingly crowded satellite communications sector.

Dr. Craig Brown, Director of Investment at the UK Space Agency, stated: “The UK is a global leader in satellite communications, and we’re accelerating the development of new services in low Earth orbit by backing innovative technologies like these advanced computing systems from Ramon.Space.

“As well as supporting the development of this crucial component for onboard processing, funding from the UK Space Agency is supporting Ramon.Space’s expansion in the UK, with new, high-skilled jobs being created for our thriving space sector.”

Ramon.Space UK, a subsidiary of Ramon.Space Ltd, is a hub of innovation in space computing and communications, advancing the industry in the UK and EU markets. As part of its growth, the company is hiring new talent to strengthen its leadership in space computing.
