Indonesia Fintech Summit & Expo 2024 Officially Opens for Public

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The 6th Indonesia Fintech Summit & Expo 2024 event was officially opened on Tuesday, 12 November 2024. The event organized by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) along with the Indonesian Fintech Association (Aftech), the Indonesian Sharia Fintech Association (AFSI), the Indonesian Funding Fintech Association (AFPI), and industry players will take place until tomorrow, 13th November 2024 at The Kasablanka Hall, Mal Kasablanka, Jakarta.

This event carries the theme Technology Convergence: Shaping the Future of Finance and Beyond. “This illustrates the synergy of fintech innovation and the financial industry in creating efficient, inclusive, sustainable products and services that impact the Indonesian economy,” said Aftech Chairperson Pandu Sjahrir in his speech at the event.

Pandu stated that the event will consist of 25 panel sessions with 70 national and international speakers. The topics of discussion in these panels, he said, range from financial literacy, cybersecurity, digital talent, to artificial intelligence.

While discussing, Pandu mentioned that this forum will also address the issue of personal data protection in the fintech industry. “As well as the signing of a joint commitment with AFPI members to realize safe fintech lending,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pandu mentioned that the Fintech Expo will be attended by 50 industries from banking, universities, and other financial service providers. During the expo, 14 open talk shows will be held.

“It will encourage the public to get to know fintech services and smart financial service users,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of OJK, Mahendra Siregar, stated that the real sector is developing innovations while also utilizing the presence of the fintech industry. Therefore, Mahendra said this industry will become a significant platform.

“Will become a very large multi-platform,” he said.

Not only that, he mentioned that OJK has been entrusted with the P2SK Law to support the development of digital-based financial industries. He stated that OJK will also support by formulating policies, monitoring, and managing risks in the digital financial industry.

“Digital-based development is the future of financial sector growth,” he said.

Thus, he hopes that this event will provide a good understanding for the public about the financial technology industry.
